As a member of IAIP, I was looking for ways that I could become more involved in the association. The first task force I joined was the Legacy Foundation. I loved the idea of being involved with an area that allowed us to give back to our own members. Since the Foundation is a 501c3 our donations were not only tax deductible, but the recipients of our grants and scholarships would be us –  the members!

Having been involved in fundraising campaigns at Nationwide E&S for United Way, I realized all I had to do was get the NAIW Legacy Foundation added to the approved donor list. Win-Win!! Education is near and dear to my heart, and it is the basis of the foundation.

Through the years I was mentored by so many amazing members – including two very special women, Billie Sleet and Victoria Rivas who left their own legacy. I knew this was an area where my passions were. I served many years either on the task force or the Legacy Board of Directors and saw first-hand members reaping the benefits of the collective group efforts. We had so much fun coming up with ideas on how to spark involvement by members (like a little healthy regional competition) and getting the word out by reminding members to apply.

If you are looking or a place to expand your involvement with IAIP I recommend the Legacy Foundation as the perfect place to start!
