Bee the Sunshine: Growing Our IAIP Community, One Member at a Time
By Paula Clark, AINS, AIS, API, CIIP, CLP-A, 2025-2027 Region I Vice President
If there’s one thing I’ve learned in both life and the insurance industry, it’s this: growth doesn’t just happen… it’s cultivated. And right now, IAIP (International Association of Insurance Professionals) has an incredible opportunity to grow… if we’re willing to lean in, get involved, and maybe buzz a little louder.
IAIP has always been about connection, professional development, and supporting one another but like any strong network, it thrives when its members are engaged and invested. Let’s be honest membership isn’t quite as bustling as we’d like it to be. Life is busy, calendars are full, and sometimes it feels easier to stay in our own little hive. But organizations like IAIP don’t thrive by accident. They grow because of people – you, me, and the relationships we build together.
It Starts With One
Think back to when you were new to the insurance industry… or even new to IAIP. The acronyms. The terminology. The feeling of “Where do I fit?”
Now imagine the difference one friendly IAIP member can make. One conversation. One introduction. One “Come sit with us.” That’s what IAIP is all about.
Each of us has the opportunity to bring along one new person maybe a coworker, a colleague, or someone just entering the insurance field. Invite them to a meeting. Explain what IAIP offers. Show them how this organization helps build careers, confidence, and connections.
Because when someone feels welcomed, they stay. And when they stay, they grow. And when they grow… so does IAIP.
Getting Involved—the IAIP Way
Let’s clear something up: being involved in IAIP doesn’t mean overcommitting your already busy schedule.
This is a volunteer-driven association built by professionals, for professionals. And the beauty of IAIP is that every contribution matters, no matter how small:
• Attend a meeting or event
• Volunteer for a one-time activity
• Join a committee
• Share an idea or suggestion
• Encourage a new member
• Mentor someone new to the industry
You don’t have to do everything—you just have to do something. Those small actions are what keep IAIP strong, relevant, and growing year after year.
Stay Connected, Stay Informed
We understand that not everyone can attend every event or meeting—and that’s okay.
That’s why IAIP provides ways to stay engaged, like watching the RVP Minutes. It’s a simple but powerful way to:
• Stay informed about what’s happening in IAIP
• Feel connected, even from a distance
• Understand the bigger picture of IAIP’s growth and direction
Staying informed is one of the easiest ways to stay involved.
If You Can’t Find the Sunshine… Bee It
Every association goes through seasons. Some meetings are packed, others are quieter. Some ideas take off, others take time.
But here’s the truth about IAIP: we create the experience together. If the energy feels low – bring it. If engagement seems quiet—spark it. If you don’t see the sunshine… bee the sunshine.
IAIP is filled with incredible professionals who care deeply about this industry and each other. Sometimes, all it takes is one person to remind everyone else why they joined in the first place.
Stronger Together—The IAIP Hive
IAIP is more than an association. It’s a community of professionals who support, mentor, and elevate one another.
It’s where careers are strengthened. Where friendships are built. Where opportunities begin. But like any strong hive, it requires participation from all of us.
So here’s the challenge to every IAIP member:
• Invite one person
• Attend one event
• Get involved in one small way
Start there. Because when each of us contributes a little, IAIP becomes something truly powerful. And who knows… you might just be the reason someone joins, stays, and thrives within IAIP.
What will you bee in IAIP?
