“Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.”
Knowledge is power! Education fosters knowledge. It opens individuals to the world of understanding, kindness, and honesty. It aids in the development of confidence and character. With education all things are possible. It is a strong driver in reducing poverty, improving health and creating stability.
We are not always aware, but we are learning constantly. Not all education is formal, it is actually a daily process of living in today’s world. It is, however, that formal education that enables each of us to grow, to become empowered, to drive us to reach for the stars.
I recently attended a scholarship reception, and the keynote speaker relayed this poem. He said his Mom gave it to him as she dropped him off on his first day at college.
The Bottom Line
Face it
nobody owes you a living.
What you achieve, or fail to achieve in your lifetime
Is directly related to what you do or fail to do.
No one chooses his parent or childhood,
But you can choose your own direction.
Everyone has problems and obstacles to overcome,
But that too is relative to each individual.
Nothing is carved in stone.
You can change anything in your life
If you want to badly enough.
Excuses are for losers! Those who take responsibility for their actions
Are the real winners in life.
Winners meet life challenges head on
Knowing there are no guarantees, and give it all they’ve got
And never think it’s too late or too early to begin.
Time plays no favorites
And will pass whether you act or not
Take control of your life
Dare to dream and take risks
Compete!
If you aren’t willing to work for your goals
Don’t expect others to.
Believe in yourself!
Education is key, use that key to open the doors to the world!
