January Board Bites: The Twelve Months of IAIP

Many of us are packing up the holiday décor and looking forward to a fresh start of the year. While I enjoy seeing my house decorated, I always look forward to simplifying things come January. One thing about the holidays I do miss, however, are the songs. I miss hearing about Rudolph, dreaming about a White Christmas and thinking about the Twelve Days of Christmas. This year, I decided to modify the last song for the rest of the year. I present to you “The Twelve Months of IAIP”!

On the first month of 2024, my association gives to me: the opportunities to apply for a Legacy Foundation scholarship and run for Regional Vice President.

Applications for Legacy Scholarships are due on January 15. You can apply for funds to take educational courses or attend educational events like regional conferences or international conventions. Applications for Regional Vice Presidents for Regions II, IV and VI are due the same day. Make a difference in the future of IAIP and apply!

On the second month of 2024, my association gives to me: taking my choice of classes, earning designations, and applying for the Norm Ziegler Collegiate Scholarship.

IAIP’s new Learning Management System (LMS) or On Demand Catalog is actually available 366 days this year! You can now take classes when and where you want. IAIP has a wide range of courses available to members and non-members. Each year, two Norm Ziegler scholarships of $2,000 each are awarded to college students in insurance-related fields.

On the third month of 2024, my association gives to me: attendance at the Region 3 Conference from March 7 – March 10, applying for a local, council or regional grant, and joining a mastermind group.

Region III is hitting the high seas for a “quacking good time” for their 2024 Regional Conference. You don’t have to be a member of Region III to join in the fun! Legacy Foundation grants provide financial support to locals, councils and regions so they can offer in-person and virtual classes. The application is due March 15. Mastermind groups are virtual groups that offer brainstorming, peer accountability and support to help you meet your goals. Members are from across the country and belonging to a group is a great way to make or deepen your connections.

On the fourth month of 2024, my association gives to me: attendance at the Region 1 Regional Conference from April 4 – 7, the Region 4 Conference from April 19-21, and participation in the future of IAIP by voting for International Secretary.

Region 1 will be gathering in Westbrook CT. Additional information will be published as it is available on the Region 1 Facebook page. Region IV will be holding their conference in Muncie IN. Check the Region IV Facebook page for the save the date. All members are welcome to any and all regional conferences! The ballots for International Secretary will be distributed electronically and each member has the right to vote.

On the fifth month of 2024, my association gives to me: the opportunity to apply for scholarships with our industry partners.

On the sixth month of 2024, my association gives to me: the opportunity to attend a HUB regional Conference and the International Convention.

Regions 2, 5, 6 and 7 are holding their one-day regional conferences on June 6 in Scottsdale. You never know what new ideas you can take home! The International Convention is something you don’t want to miss. The dates are June 7 – 10 and the location is Scottsdale, AZ. Education, networking, and fun is on the agenda! See the save the date and put it on your calendar.

On the seventh month of 2024, my association gives to me: the opportunity to shape the future of IAIP by joining a task force.

Are you excited about the CLP and CLP-A designations? You can thank the Education Task Force! Did you enjoy the 2023 convention in Providence? You can thank the Convention Task Force! Task Forces & Volunteer Interest

On the eighth month of 2024, my association gives to me: another opportunity to apply for a Legacy Foundation scholarship.

Applications are due 8/15/2024 and can be found on the Legacy Foundation website

On the ninth month of 2024, my association gives to me: the opportunity to network by attending council meetings and making connections via the online community.

Did you know that you don’t have to be a member of a council to attend their meeting? Travel to other nearby states and check out what they are doing. Some councils offer hybrid or virtual meetings too. Ask your RVP about council meetings and keep your eye out on the online community, the IAIP calendar and social media for meeting information. The online community is found on the IAIP profile page under “My Feed”.

On the tenth month of 2024, my association gives to me: another opportunity to sign up for a mastermind group and another opportunity for a local, council or region to apply for a Legacy Foundation grant.

Signup information for the next session of mastermind groups will be found in Connections and on the online community. If you are already a participant, you can stay with your current group and try out a new one. It is all up to you! As a reminder the grant applications are due 10/15.

In the eleventh month of 2024, my association gave to me: the opportunity to be recognized as a regional and/or international IAIP award winner.

The applications for the regional awards are found on the IAIP website under Leader Resources, Toolkits, Forms and are due 11/15. You can be recognized as the Rookie, Young New Professional, Risk Manager, Client Services, Claims Professional or Insurance Professional of the Year. If you win the regional award, you are entered into the running to be named the International winner. Just like scholarships, if you enter, you may not win but if you don’t enter, you definitely won’t win.

In the twelfth month of IAIP, my association gives to me: the opportunity to apply to serve as International Secretary, a member of the International Nominating Board, a Legacy Foundation Board Director, a member of the Legacy Foundation Nominating committee or to submit to compete in the Regional CWC speak-off!

You can end the year with a bang and take advantage of the many leadership opportunities that IAIP offers. Applications for all of the above are found in the toolkit section of the IAIP website. All of the applications except for the CWC Speak-Off are due on December 1 and the CWC application is due to your RVP on 12/10. The winner of the Regional CWC Speak-off is eligible to compete at the international convention.
